Why Bharat Matters: A Book Discussion 

In light of the complex interplay between tradition and modernity shaping India’s identity in the new world order, ‘Why Bharat Matters’ is a timely intervention. The Ananta Centre hosted a conversation between the author, Dr S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, India and Ms Indrani Bagchi, CEO, Ananta Centre. 

Dr. Jaishankar highlighted several facets of the complexities of the world of foreign policy and India’s ever changing and evolving standing in the same. 

He spoke candidly on matters of security, both in the context of physical borders but also modern day threats caused by AI. The role of India in the region, the complicated state of South Asian regional politics, the rapidly changing world order etc. Throughout the discussion he presented arguments urging the average Indian to to be more involved in conversations around foreign policy, he drew parallels between looking to our past to get a better understanding of our future. 

The event was attended by a vastly distinguished audience consisting of diplomats, journalists, students etc.
