The first iteration of the Nordic India Dialogue was held on August 22 and 23 in Oslo, Norway. This closed door Track 1.5 Dialogue was convened by Ananta Centre, Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, Institute of International Affairs of Iceland, and the Technical University of Denmark, in collaboration with respective foreign ministries. The dialogue witnessed representation from all five Nordic countries and India, comprising over 70 delegates from government bodies, academic institutions, industry leaders, and policy think tanks. It also featured keynote addresses by Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway and Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. Discussions focused on areas of mutual concern, including geopolitical issues, green transitions, critical and emerging technologies, and Arctic policies. The objective of these closed-door deliberations, conducted under the Chatham House Rule, was to support ongoing Track I dialogues by generating informed policy recommendations, leveraging opportunities, sharing knowledge, and building trust for future Nordic-India collaborations.
