27 SEPTEMBER 2024 | 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM (IST)
Ananta Centre, The Ravi Shankar Centre, 7 Jose Rizal Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi-110021
The recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Singapore has elevated bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two nations signed four key agreements, focusing on semiconductors, digital technologies, health, and skill development, reinforcing their commitment to economic cooperation. With this focal backdrop the Ananta Aspen Centre hosted a conversation between the Singapore High Commissioner Mr. Simon Wong and Ms. Indrani Bagchi, Chief Executive Officer, Ananta Aspen Centre.
The conversation has also highlighted that stronger trade linkages are essential for countries to grow as export economies. Singapore hopes for India’s emergence as a leading export nation with connections across sub-regions. Again the conversation has also mentioned that for India’s semiconductor sector to flourish, the country must focus on developing subsidiary industries, similar to global initiatives like Japan’s PLI scheme and the U.S. and EU Chips Acts.
