The Ananta Centre held a discussion with Ms. Anna Morris, Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes and Mr. Eric Van Nostrand, Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy of the United States Department of Treasury on Thursday, 4th April at the Ananta Centre office. It was moderated by Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, India Practice Head, Eurasia Group.
The discussion focussed on phase two of the price cap on Russian oil. The speakers argued that the goal of the oil cap is often misunderstood, it is not to stop Russian oil outside the coalition. The price cap is meant to change economic incentives globally to force Russia to sell oil at a lower rate. They reiterated that India an important partner and stakeholder in this issue. The session ended with a q/a from the audience.
