4th India-Japan Forum

The fourth India-Japan Forum convened by Ananta Centre in partnership with Ministry of External Affairs, took place on 7-8 December, 2025 in New Delhi This forum provided a premier platform for policymakers, thought leaders, and private sector representatives to discuss current geopolitical trends and global economic challenges, focusing on key areas crucial to the future of the India-Japan relationship. The event was held under the Chatham House Rules, encouraging open and interactive discussions among participants. Approximately 130 delegates from both India and Japan attended the forum.

Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, addressed the inaugural session, and Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a video message. The forum received support from various organizations, including Godrej, JetSynthesys, CII, TATA, JBIC, Suntory, Mitsubishi, and Premji Invest.

This year, the Forum concentrated on strengthening the India-Japan partnership by focusing on critical themes like economic security, defense cooperation, and the strategic significance of semiconductors. Discussions covered investment and trade, critical minerals, supply chains, mobility, and energy sources, all aimed at bolstering key sectors and addressing strategic vulnerabilities. The Forum also highlighted the importance of collaborative governance and explored the partnership’s role in third countries to promote connectivity and sustainable development throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
