ABOUT THE EVENT
Ananta Centre announces the second session of the Dialogue on Women and Gender Issues: The Woman Speaks on “Education and Vocational Skilling for Women: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Even with more women being educated today than ever before, the numbers are still far from ideal, with female literacy rate almost 20 percent less than that for men. While government initiatives for women to gain vocational skills have been implemented on a large scale, women are not able to benefit from these programs due to social barriers, constraints and migration.
What limits opportunities and sustenance for women in education or acquiring skills?
Why are women unable to find or retain jobs gained even after acquiring skills?
Do the schemes and initiatives reach the women who need it most?
What is society doing in creating an environment favourable for growth of women?
It is essential to have open conversations about the struggles that women continue to face in attaining economic and social independence.
The forum brings together a diverse mix of speakers for open discussions which bring forth the true conflicts, impediments and opportunities available to wome.
