What is Ananta Centre - Avantha International Fellowship?
"Ananta Centre - Avantha International Fellowship" is an annual fellowship programme which serves as an innovation lab for knowledge sharing and capacity building for two international students. The Fellows will learn about the social, political and economic issues facing the world's largest democracy. In addition to international exposure and leadership experience, the Fellows will gain experience on these issues and learn from the best practices and expert minds in the field.

Who should apply?
The underlying philosophy in launching this fellowship program is to facilitate global exchange in international understanding. Graduate/Post Graduate/PhD students from Universities abroad, in the field of International Relations/Development Studies/Social Science & Humanities are encouraged to apply.

What is the selection process?
Having reviewed the background materials collected, the Selection Committee will discuss the applications against the selection criteria. If the applicant appears promising, selectors will further arrange telephonic interviews with the short listed candidates and further work on the final selection of the fellows for the year.

Does the fellowship require recommendation letter?
Fellowship requires 2 letters of recommendation with complete contact details. Pick references that know you well enough to comment on your work ethic, your cultural adaptability, and your career goals among other things. Try and balance your references by providing both academic and professional references.

What does the fellowship cover?
A stipend, accommodation and economy class return airfare (subject to approval). The stipend would be paid in INR per month (tax would be deducted as per Indian Law).

What is the duration of the fellowship?
Two months in the timeframe of 15 June – 15 October 2015. Dates are flexible based on international university schedule.

What kind of visa will I need?
Ananta Centre will facilitate the fellows with the initial visa requirement. They will have to approach the nearest Indian Embassy for appropriate visa. Please check with your immigration office before applying.

What happens if a fellow gets sick? What health facilities and support exist?
Health and safety are very region-specific. When a fellow arrives at their host organization, they will complete an orientation, which includes information on local health facilities for the fellow. Fellows are responsible to arrange their own medical travel insurance policy (for emergencies that involve hospitalization) throughout their time in India.
